Avocado Rosemary Hair Mask
Whenever I notice that my hair is getting dry and brittle, I reach for the avocados. After this mask I usually see the difference in my hair right away, it becomes silky, manageable, alive!
Loaded with healthy fats and vitamins, avocado is a very good hair conditioner and moisturizer, it prevents hair loss and promotes hair growth. Olive oil adds elasticity which prevents your hair from breaking off. I use extra virgin olive oil, as it has the highest levels of vitamin E and antioxidants.
Rosemary essential oil has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, plus it stimulates hair follicles, which can help boost hair growth, making hair grow longer and stronger. It also slows down premature hair loss and graying of the hair. Impressive, right? So, I thought it would be a good idea to add it to the mask. Did you know that regular massaging of the scalp with rosemary oil helps to remove dandruff? No need to buy special shampoos that are loaded with chemicals.
And finally, egg yolk. It contains Vitamins A, D and E, which are vital for hair growth. Egg yolks moisturize hair, strengthen the roots, repair hair and prevent damage.
I whip up this mask in a food processor, so the mixture becomes very smooth, and it’s pretty easy to apply to the hair, as well as to wash it out. I have long hair, but I always have enough mixture left to apply to my face, neck and chest area. Why not?
You will need:
1 ripe Haas avocado
2 Tbs extra virgin Olive oil
1 egg yolk
10 drops rosemary essential oil
Peel avocado and puree it in a food processor. Add olive oil, egg yolk and puree a few seconds more. The mixture will be very light, whipped cream consistency. Add rosemary oil.
Apply to dry hair, starting at the roots, and all the way along the length of your hair. Cover your head with a plastic bag and a towel on top of the bag. Leave the mask for 30 to 60 minutes, and then wash off, shampoo and style as usual.
